Single mom....and married. What gives?

My hubs and I have a toddler. We've been together 10 yrs married for 5. I wrk full time, drop off and pick up the LO every day, clean, cook, etc. hubs works part time in a dead end job that he loves which has him working 6am to noon and 4p to 8p supposedly. When he is at home he plays video games and takes his daily two hour nap that he cannot function without. He also fills time with buddies And basketball. I love the guy.. We have been through miscarriages, horrible health, living with his parents etc. BUT if I ever ask him to help me do something he gets super anxious and defensive, gives me attitude, and tells me he doesn't have time. I then get mad at him and he gets mad at me for getting mad at him. Vicious cycle. I am the bread winner, single mom, and feel like I get nothing out of this mArriage. I have a toddler and apparently I'm married to a teenage boy. Divorce? FYI.. We did the counseling thing.

Re: Single mom....and married. What gives?

  • Maybe you've already done this but try to really talk things out.

As for him helping you, maybe start with baby steps? Also, maybe you should try to not pick up all of the slack so that he notices all the things you've been doing for the househ

  • What do you mean "supposedly"? Is he employed or not? How many hours per week are on his paycheck???

This is a middleschooler, not a full time full grown mature adult husband. I'd read him the riot act and if he doesn't cut out the puerile activity
  • I definitely can't stop doing chores to prove a pt. that would drive me nuts. I am grateful for the few things that he does and praise him but I can't help but wonder why I should praise and coddle a grown man. We talk but he is quick to say sorry and not
  • DH was complaining that I didn't do anything.  So for me it took writing out exactly what I do & what he does.  I said I would gladly switch.  He looked at the list & quickly changed his mind.

    He does floors, garbage

  • It sounds like you are getting screwed like me. The boy knows better then to compare our two lists.
  • So... what DO you get out of this marriage? I'm sure you love him, yada yada, but marriage takes more than that to actually function.
  • You have two children, your H and your toddler. Maybe you should put all your effort into being a mother to your actual child and send the man child back to his mommy.

Add it up. You make the money, cook, clean, take care of the toddler and

  • Tarpon-

It always annoys me when people give the cut-and-run advice. Telling someone to cut and run before they've figured out the problem is cowardly. If you get into a marriage, you should have the b@lls to figure out why it isn't working befor
