We are planning to have a Housewarming party on May 4th, (and hope it will warm up by then, geesh!). I really don't believe in a house warming registry but I have some friends pushing for me to do it who have also done that and others asking what to get me or if we will register. (is this an East coast thing, I wonder?) Really, The only thing I can think of is GARDENING! I have a blank slate as a backyard.
I want to make "planting our roots" a party theme and have this be and indoor/outdoor party with games like corn-roll, horse-shoes and bat-mitten set up in the yard.
Should I allude to wanting plants, seeds, gardening tools and books or magazines in the invite, or only when asked "what do you guys want/ need?"
I'm also trying to think of tying it into party favors / "thank you card" suffers such as giving guests seeds to plant too. Thoughts? Suggestions? (please!)
Re: Housewarming in Maryland- Plant giving?
Thanks Kathryn. (yup: meant corn-hole and badminton...woopsies. Fail).
I wouldn't worry about favors as I don't think they're necessary but if you're looking to serve food, you have to make dirt cake!
