During the month of May, DH and I are rehabbing the entire first floor of our house, and I'm fairly indecisive in terms of paint colors.
I'm not talented or ambitious enough to add pictures of what we currently have, so you'll have to make do with my descriptions (or, in the case of Meghan and Kathryn and one or two others, remember last year when you came over for book club).
We have a fairly open floor plan. When you walk in the front door, there' s hallway with an open door on the left to the kitchen, which is currently light green and white with beige tile. The kitchen open to the living room (which you can also get to by going straight down the hallway when you walk in the front door).
We're getting rid of our dog-ruined carpet and putting down dark wood. The living room is currently a deep tan color with very small burgundy accent wall where the fireplace is, plus we have burgundy curtains and a tan couch. Putting down the dark wood will make the whole thing too dark.
So I want to repaint the ENTIRE bottom floor in one lighter, airier color to make the whole floor flow better. I'll also replace the curtains, and we're going to get the new furniture. At the same time, DH is building built-in bookcases to flank either side of the fireplace accent wall, those bookcases will be white.
So my actual question...I'm thinking a very pale blue (maybe like this? http://awelldressedhome.com/1180-my-latest-obsession-horizontal-striped-drapes/ ) for the general paint color, along with a tan couch, and white striped curtains (like in the pic, but probably either a tan or gray stripe) but any other ideas? DH wants to keep an accent wall where the fireplace is, and I can't really think of a good color to go with pale blue.
It's worth noting that our upstairs bedrooms are painted various shades of gray, and while I LOVE that color, I don't want to repeat it downstairs.
Thoughts? Ideas? Inspiration pictures?

I really like that blue color you picked.
I suck at picking accent colors, hence why my living room is all the same color.
What would you think of a dark brown accent wall with that light blue and a tan couch and tan and white curtains?
The accent wall is small. There's probably less than a foot of wall beyond the fireplace and it's pushed forward -- kind of l

Your inspiration pick is lovely. If you're looking for specific blues, Benjamin Moore's Brittany Blue is beautiful. We have it in the entire open area of our basement and it's done wonders to brighten and open up a space that's partially un
