Dog Training Recs needed, please.

Nigel is having a hard time adjusting to Gabriel.

It's gotten worse since Gabriel is totally mobile now.

I've worked with a trainer in the past and loved her, but she's moved out of town.

Please. Please. Please.

I'm driving myself crazy googling - and unfortunately, a lot of the results seem to include one dog trainer bashing another.

The reviews for one of the trainers were either 1 star or 5 stars, how the heck is that possible?

Anyway, I'm heartbroken over this and could really use some recommendations.

TIA.

  • We used Sherri Gintner at Good Dog. (http://gooddogbehavior.org/)

Our shih tzu Timmy has some VERY stubborn behavior problems (aggression, peeing in the house) and we tried a few different behaviorists.  Sherri's methods worked the best for

  • I'm sorry to hear that!  There were times that I thought we were going to have to re-home Timmy, but we were able to turn things around.  We still have our challenges with him, but things are in a much better place (knock on wood!).  I hope

  • Timmy and Lucy were our first babies too.  Lucy is the model good dog, and Timmy, well, notsomuch.  I couldn't even begin to comprehend having to re-home him, but I also knew I couldn't put my kids at risk (or keep Timmy in an environment whe

  • I just wanted to say I completely understand where you're coming from. We were in the same position last year with mace and Claire. It's heart wrenching to have those discussions:( thankfully maceo has mellowed with time, but we were extremely concerne

  • Look for a behaviorist, not a trainer. In this situation, they may be better equipped to handle the behaviors and help you. Also, ask your vet for a recommendation.

  • We used Kate Sullivan several years ago. she was very good and reasonably priced. i would recommend her.

  • Oh no, that's too bad that she's relocating!  Hopefully you have luck with the others you've reached out to.  And ditto discussing with your vet - they referred us to Sherri, as well as to Animal Friends, who also gave us some recommondations.&n
