Not sure if this is exactly the right board for it, but does anyone have any places they like to get fair trade clothing from? I've bought a few things from Mata Traders but I feel like their selection is pretty small.
Re: Fair trade clothing
You might find some options here: http://www.onegreenplanet.org/lifestyle/a-guide-to-buying-sustainable-fair-trade-and-vegan-clothing/.
This article suggests that buying high end second-hand clothing may be the most ethical choice: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/christandpopculture/2013/03/where-should-christians-buy-clothes/.
It's great that you're conscious of how shopping habits may impact other people!
For me it is about buying less stuff, lowering my consumption. But the things I do buy affect other people... and in developing countries there aren't often the same level of regulations on pesticides or working conditions. This is why it is important to buy fairtrade bananas, for example. I don't think farmers should have to be sterile for me to have a cheaper banana. Things like screwdrivers are made from metal which means that someone had to mine that metal, probably under less than optimal conditions. Plus mining for metals usually messes up someones drinking water somewhere. I try and buy those things secondhand.
Thanks for share, excellent urls
