job update

I GOT THE JOB!!!

thanks for all your support last week. I was freaking out all last week and this weekend about my writing sample, and the HR girl told me that actually, they read it Wednesday morning and wrote the offer letter up on Wednesday afternoon-but she was on vacation and could not present it.

Anyway! I am in salary negoitations now. I want a few thousand more to cover the cost of health benefits, since now I get 100% provided and at the new place I'll hve to pay a percentage.

IT offers the ability to work from home a day or two a month, which is always great (saves on gas etc), it saves 10 minutes off my morning commute, and I actually GET a lunch hour or half hour, or something other than me eating at my desk and chatting with a mouthful of food like I do everyday. Also more vacation time than I currently have too!

I am really excited, and I just had to tell them that I had some vacations scheduled previously and see if I am going to get the extra $ then I can go for a celebatroy dinner.

Also- all that freaking out about telling my boss and her surgery doesn't matter. I need to have a background check done (which i know will be fine because I just had one done for BBBSOS), and they said it takes 5-7 days and NOT to give a notice before that point.

I am contemplating the offer but almost positive i will take it.

although this will be my initiation to CUBE world.

Yay! Congratulations! Your vague title had me worried that it wasn't a positive update!

I'm glad it all worked out for the best, and it sounds like you're really close on the terms so I'm sure negotiations won't be bad.

  • ha! sorry for the vague title, I was writing it quickly as work and didn't want anyone to see me writing it :)

Good idea about the plants etc! I have never worked in a cube and I can imagine the privacy thing is hard, but at least there are

  • Congratulations, Jen! I was hoping that you'd be coming on with good news! I'm so happy for you.

  • thanks so much! negoitations went ok, they came up a couple thousand dollars so overall its a 5-6 k raise for me which isn't great but is great at the same time-- i mean who can argue over more money right?

I verbally accepted the offer last nigh
