Weather changing...anyone else feel blah?

Even though Ive lived in Chicagoland my entire life, I am cringing to think of the disgusting winter weather to follow the next 4 months here in Chicago.  Anyone else?

Also, Im planning on pretty much being a homebody this winter on the weekends.  Last winter went by in a flash since I had just moved into my home I didnt have much time to think about anything else other than moving/fixing up the house.  Please share your creative ideas how to make this winter pass by quicker-Im just dreading that its right around the corner.  How does everyone else make the winters go by?  Suggest some fun activities.

Re: Weather changing...anyone else feel blah?

  • I'm the same way. I really dislike winter, after Christmas it seems to last forever.  I have tried to get my hubbie to do some outdoor winter activities like cross country ski but he wont go with. I'm not sure if I'd even like it (I hate the cold) but I think that would be a way to make winter better. I'm thinking about getting one of those light boxes to see if that helps my winter blahs.

If you think of any good activities let me know!

  • Me  Too! I think Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is hitting way too early. I like to drink my way through the depression. Hah! :) Kidding...am I ?!

Maybe once we start setting up the house for the holidays we will feel a little cheerier. I would love any other suggestions too.

  • I am definitely feeling blah.

I think part of that comes from remembering last year aka the worst winter ever.

I am looking forward to decorating though. And, I don't usually mind being a homebody, but DH definitely does so I have to put up with his complaining.

  • We've been living in the Caymans for two years, so I can't wait for winter!! I know... I'm the odd man out. ?Ask me what I think in about 3 weeks when we move from the tropics to Chicago winter?! ?lol.

?We're from Michigan, so I know all about SAD. ?My DH is a busy body, so he gets more cabin fever than I do. ?We like to ski, but don't really have the time for it as much as we'd like. ?I find that going to the gym helps. ?Maybe try a new class if you have a membership somewhere. ?Also, I think it's always a good idea to stock up on some new books (if you enjoy reading) or get a subscription to a new magazine.

  • Four months? More like 6-7 months. I have lived here my whole life too and I get depressed when the temp drops below 60 degrees. The good thing is, we just bought a new house so I am keeping busy painting and decorating. Maybe you can overhaul your home to keep busy... ;)
