No maternity leave pay :(

I found out today that I will not get temporary state disability for my maternity leave like I thought I would. It turns out that the school districts that I work for do not pay into it. It wasn't going to be a lot of money but I thought it was going to be something to at least help out with the bills.

I contacted the college that I worked for in the fall and asked if there is an online class that I can teach this summer and the answer was no. My only option is to go back to the hotel gift shop but if I do I'll have to work 8 or 9 hour shifts. That will be a long time to leave my baby. I think I'll just have to play it by ear and maybe tell them I'll be back 2-3 days a week starting mid July. I really wanted to be with her all summer long, but life doesn't always work out the way you want it to.

I'm sorry you won't be able to get your maternity leave pay. It stinks that you have to go back to work so soon, but maybe something else will come up.

I hope you're right and he can get hired at the school he's subbing at. It looks like both of our husbands will be searching for a teaching job this summer. DH is looking for something closer to home, but still lined up his position at our current school.
