I ordered a wool rug from rugsdirect.com back in September. It will NOT stop shedding fibers. The fibers are everywhere! I thought if I vacummed it for a few weeks, it would clear up. No such luck. Not even now in April.
Well, I called the company today and spoke with two reps.
Essentially, I spent money on an India wool rug. And, the company's rep said, "this is a 'buyer beware' situation."
She went on to explain that there are two types of wool rugs...India and the other (can't remember) and that I can expect my India wool rug (and I quote) "to shed for the life of the rug, fill up my vacuum's bag in a matter of days, and eventually fall apart."
I'm angry at myself for not knowing more about types of wool rugs. But, I'm also displeased that rugsdirect.com doesn't give true information about the quality expectations a shopper should have when making what will be a sizeable purchase (my rug is 8' x 11', so not cheap).
Anyway, DH and I have to move it to the basement. It's too messy for our household.
Just thought I'd share my story to help someone avoid this problem in the future and question whether or not you even want to do business with rugsdirect.com who has clearly staed to me, "Buyer beware."
Re: "Buyer Beware" - Direct quote from rugsdirect.com
Hi there,
I caught the title of your thread and groaned a little...I too had a HORRIBLE experience with RugsDirect.com. They sent me an incorrect rug, then insisted that it was the "correct" rug that I ordered, and wouldn't pay for me to ship it
