offended..

We (okay I) want new windows.  We have crappy windows, that when it's cold out, they get a lot of condensation which turns into mold.  DH had to wipe them down regularly. With a baby on the way, I want new windows - no mold.

He said we could have some companies come out for estimates.  So I made a couple of calls and set up appointments for when I'm home from work.  (DH's schedule is never consistent, so at least I know I'll be there, he's fine not being there.)

One of them called to confirm Monday's appointment.  They asked if my husband would be there, I said maybe, but he never knows when he'll be home.

They said they wouldn't come out unless both of us were home.

I'm supposed to call them Monday evening to make sure my husband is going to be home before they'll come out.

So... if it was me that was going to miss, would they do the same thing?  I doubt.  Like I'm not capable of listening to what the guy has to say and relay it to my husband.

Am I over-reacting?  Confused

Re: offended..

  • Weird.  Unless their company has a history of issues when they go to a home where just the woman is there (and I don't mean the woman is dumb, I mean like the workers were accused of things).  That's the only thing I can think of that would make

  • I don't think so! I'd be pretty annoyed too. In fact, I think I'd call and confirm even if your husband wasn't going to be home. How the two of you handle appointments is none of their business - do they refuse to visit single parent homes? Yeah, doubt

  • Unless its company policy that all residents are present I wouldn't find it strange. Did they tell you if it was a policy that all people be there no matter of gender? I find that strange. What if you were two lesbians? Would they require a man be present
  • The only reason why I can see them not wanting to meet with just one of you is if there are lots of details and options to choose from and they want to be able to go through all that during this visit. No point in doing that if there is only one o

But... if DH just can't schedule to be home, they need to deal with that and come anyway if they want the business. <br

  • I definitely understand being offended.  I do know there are some companies that won't come out and speak to you unless both people are present.  Unique Home Solutions is one of them.  They want both adults there since both adults have to m

Too funny.. I was going to ask if you'd recommend them or not.  We are just going to get a bunch of estimates!

  • I think they do that because they want you to sign with them right away. They feel like you're more likely to wait if you're not both there. At least that was the opinion I got when we priced out our windows. Wallside Windows wouldn't come unless we were
