Running shoe recommendations?

I'm just starting C25k, with the intention to run my first 5k June 15th.  I need some good running shoes...a friend recommended Hoka One One's (hokaoneone-na.com).  Anyone have any experience with these?  They look funny, but I've read really positive reviews on several different websites.

Or, do you have any other recommendations for good running shoes?  TIA!
