I'm trying to figure out how much I can expect to pay for childcare for Anthony when I go back to work. My MIL will be able to take care of him 2 days a week so we will only need 3 days. (sigh) I don't want to go to work, but I have to. I'm also so worried about making sure he's in good hands. TIA!
Re: Question a/b childcare
I'm not too sure about "part-time" status, but full-time (5 days) for an infant can be around $1000 a month.
Please email me... md1cortez@aol.com I want to talk more with you about it.
Hi Alma... we too have just gone through the mad day care search (and actually just signed a contract with one to start in Jan!).... we need 4 days a week - most places consider that full time - and we have found the rate to be on avg. $200 per week for full time... and approx $50/day for part time.
prices above are for family home day care which is what we want at least for the infant stage...
i would be happy to share any resources i have found helpful w/ you. email me if you are interested.

Finding part time is going to be the toughest part. The reason is that it's very unusual to find a family to augment the other 2 days per week ... most people looking for infant care need full time care. The ratios are so much lower in infant care that it's not cost effective to allow for part time schedules and not have someone on the other days ... generally the ratio in centers is 1:4 and so having 1:3 2 days per week isn't cost effective. Hope that doesn't sound greedy but I'm just trying to shed some light on why it's hard to find part time infant care.
Most infant programs in Orange County are around $1000/month. Our preschool is $195/week or $750/month for 2.5 years and up.
