Baby Obsessed...But not ready to start TTC

So I'm 23 yrs old, and my husband and I have been together for six years.  We got pregnant unintentionally four years ago, and we unfortunately lost the little one.  Since then, I've gone through phases of being baby obsessed-- and I'm in one big time right now!  I feel really disappointed every time I get my period, and I'm keeping pregnancy tests around "just in case."  My husband is super excited about the idea of having kids, but I'm so worried about being "ready."

We agreed to start TTC in 18-24 months, and we're taking steps to get ready.  So far, we've started saving money (of course), moved into a two-bedroom apartment, started planning an awesome getaway to celebrate pre-parenthood, and set new goals for our business to increase our income between now and then.  I'm also  getting into a fitness program and pursuing a teaching certification in yoga and pilates-- both to prepare my body for the baby and open up a flexible new potential income source if we ned additional funds post-baby.

Any other suggestions?  I know you can't ever really be ready for a child (especially your first) but the planning helps me feel better (and stops me from buying booties, crocheting baby blankets, and getting mad at my friends for getting pregnant, lol).

  • Keep an open line of communication with your H during this time.  If you're not actually TTC, don't be disappointed when your period comes.  What protection are you using to prevent?  If you're not using any, be prepared for it to happen to
