Trader Joe's

I've read so much about TJ that when I finally got a chance to go to one, I did.

I was disappointed.     THe first area was the produce and their prices were much higher than my local market.   DH and I wandered the store and ended up just buying the chili lime chicken burgers...only because I read so many things about them.  We will see!!

Re: Trader Joe's

  • I've found that their produce prices are average, when things are in season more, they do get better. The thing I like about trader joes is that you can find more things that not necessarily organic but don't have all the extra additives & chemicals

  • Really you have to know what is/is not a bargain. Their produce/veggies are not typically know to be a bargain IMO.

I don't know many people who go to TJs for their produce selection.  I love a lot of their frozen meal items, cookies/snack items, and wine.
  • The only thing I buy there is wine and these thin crispy cookie things. Although I have looked at some of their produce before, and find that it isnt much cheaper. Just about every store has their niche in what they are cheaper on. You just have to

  • Yea, I never buy produce from TJ's either - too expensive. What I do buy from them though is the fancy cheeses....they have such a nice wide variety and good prices...especially the goat cheese and brie with truffle mushrooms. mmmmmm

  •   I will go for their niche specialty items that are hard to find in the average grocery. I find they are cheaper than Whole Foods and the like.
