Upon hearing that during her leadership the gap between poor and rich has widened, she retorted, "What the honorable member is saying is that he would rather the poor were poorer provided the rich were less rich. That's why you will never create the wealth..."
I wish I had been old enough to follow the political scene in 1979 when she, Ronald Reagan, and Pope John Paul II were at the height of their powers.
This was a gut punch for sure, but I like to think of the three I mentioned above at a table in heaven, perhaps joined by WFB.
