And isn't it "pure conjecture" to say the opposite too? I.e. that the laws won't work? We won't know for sure unless we try.
So then are you saying it's an absolute that gun control isn't effective? If so, I disagree. There are plenty of places with tight gun control and no significant mass shootings (japan, for example).

Right. I was agreeing with you that there is a black market for guns but that's because they have been unregulated for so long.
