Shedding...a LOT, normal?

I have an american bulldog mix (probably boxer in there too) and she sheds...A LOT.  I know spring is coming but its been consistent since we got her in November and for the past month-2 months its been awful.  She has short hair and it literally is on every surface of my house, she gets brushed outside probably 2 times a week and I vacuum everyday.  We have the furminator and its insane how much hair comes out.  I am about to change her food to a higher quality one...its probably 2 x the cost of what she has now and am slowing working it into her diet..does anyone thing the food change would help?  Ive heard that. it can effect the shedding....If it doesnt oh well, I guess shes just a shedder and I need to clean that much more but I was curious b/c she's healthy (regular vet checks are always ok) and a short haired dog.  Thoughts?

Re: Shedding...a LOT, normal?

  • Food quality can definitely be a factor. What food are you switching her to? Higher cost doesn't always equal stellar quality, and I wouldn't want you to go through a food switch for nothing!

I have a Boxer myself, and while her hair is short, ye

  • my brother and SIL have an american bulldog, he is mainly white.  He sheds ALOT and those little hairs stick to everything.  They really haven't been able to find a solution :(

  • Haha.  Our girl is white too...i love her to bits but my god i have a relationship with my vacuum like never before!  oh well..what can you do?  thanks for the feedback all!
  • How often do you bathe her? Those are a great way of getting out old and loose hairs.
  • My dog is white also (maybe this is a common factor? lol) and she sheds A LOT.  She's a terrier/dachshund mix, so I'm not sure if this is something normal to her breed.  I bathe her every week and probably brush her every night when we're
