We are getting a girl bernese mountain dog (yes, she will be huge) this weekend! My eyes have glazed over from researching cool girl dog names! I would love a literary dog name or just something cool or unique! Please post suggestions!
Re: Cool dog girl name help!
i stink at cool names so im not much help but i wanted to say congrats on your new addition!!!!!
We have a big dog too, a cane corso. We thought for months on a big and tough name to use and then settled on something so simple, Ben. Sometimes it might just take seeing her for a name to pop in your head. Good Luck!
My girl dog is Xena Pepper
We call her all sorts of nicknames though...ZeeZee, ZZ Top, Xena Baby, Lady Bighead (she's a pitt bull), Wiggle Butt (b/c she wags her tail so fast her whole back side wags)
Our boy dog is Stormageddon Douglas, but we call him Stormy for short.
Ruby, Lucy, Zoey
You must post a pic as well!
We had a hard time coming up with a name for our female Boxer. We originally were going to go with Layla, and then it turned out that was her mom's name! How funny. We could have used it anyway, but decided not to. Now I forget what name we picked out for her, but when we brought her home, we just knew it wasn't the right fit for her. It took us the first week of having her home to finally settle on "Zoey." And it's perfect for her.
Some good literary girl's names might be:
Ariel (a spirit in Shakespeare's The Tempest);
Juliet;
Viola, Olivia, Rosaline (from Twelfth Night);
Hermia, Helena, Hippolyta, Titania (perfect for a big dog!) (all from A Midsummer Night's Dream);
Elizabeth Bennet or any of the other Bennet sisters: Jane, Mary, Kitty, Lydia (Pride & Prejudice; wouldn't it be cute for that to be her full name, and you could call her whatever nickname you liked!);
Isabella Thorpe (Northanger Abbey);
the list could go on forever!

When I got my dog, I try to find the best name for him before I actually met him.
I had like 10 names in my head, and when i saw him for the first time, none of them seemed right for him.
After a hour or two of thinking about it, he did something that remind me of a movie I liked a lot, and that is how he got his name.
You could try to wait until you have her on your arms and then decide. Sometimes they will let you know if the name you have chosen for them is the correct one.
Good Luck!!
My dogs are Emma and Evangeline!
My cat is She-Ra like the superhero, so that one probably doesnt help, LOL!
i totally agree with this. if you have names picked out, great but if not or they don't fit, just wait until you see her personality. I have a two month old lamb that I had a name picked out for already, but when I got her home she hopped everywhere she went which was so so cute. After seeing her hop everywhere for about a week, the name bunny just stuck.
