So everyone is clear...
I am okay with background checks as long as there is no registry.
But can someone please explain to me why it's okay to background check people for guns and ID them too, which is a big deal, when lots of people want folks to be able to vote at the polls without bearing ID of any form?
So, I go to the doctor/dentist and they verify my ID.
I get my dog's vet records - they verify my ID.
I buy a gun - they verify my ID.
I go on a plane - they verify my ID.
I rent a car - they verify and ID and a major CC.
I sign up for a CC - they verify my ID.
I open a bank account - they verify my ID.
But, to vote....I get to just walk right in and do it??? Makes no sense.

Back to voter id laws - again, I'm fine with them as long they're not used to discriminate. Sarah Silverman offers an interesting (and hilarious take on it):
Warning - strong (but funny) language.
