Resource for finding preschools

Currently DD is attending preschool through her daycare.  DH is going to be a FT SAHD starting this summer, but we do want to get DD in a preschool class for the fall.

I've found a few in our area (North Fayette), but really want to see what our options are.

I think finding preschools is harder than finding a daycare!

  • Is it an option to stay at your current center and just have her go for the preschool portion?   Our daycare has this option - Noah went there just for pre-school for a year when he was at an in-home place.

  • I would ask the local elementary school which preschools are the most prepared when entering school. And go from there! I wish I would have done that with Faith, now we are at a new preschool which gets high ratings for the neighboring school district but

  • Our preschool is located in a church (not part of the church, just rented space).  I know there are several other preschools in moon that are in church locations.  So, maybe look around at local churches?

  • There is a Montessori school in Bridgeville, google maps said that's about 20min from you.

    That's all I've got. :)

I LOVE my DS's preschool at Holy Trinity in Robinson. He teacher has been there for years and is great. I also heard good things about Union Church in Robinson and the Pumpkin Patch in Moon. Good luck!
  • Thanks everyone!  The schools that you mentioned are all close enough to be convenient.  I knew Union Church had a daycare, I didn't know they had just a preschool as well.

And the rates for preschool vs. daycare/preschool are crazy ch

You know I am not sure if union is separate or not with preschool- the family I know that likes it so much uses it for daycare, but worth checking into.
  • Check with your school district. Our school district has pre-k starting at age 3 and it's free.
  • Is North Fayette around the Robinson area?  Cannot recall.  My daughter goes to The Learning Tree in Sewickley and there are several families from Moon who go there.  there is a 3 yr class (two days a week) and a 4 yr kindergarten prep clas
  • Oh, and The Learning Tree is in the basement of a church, but it is a non-denominational program.  Love the program, and I am on the Board, that was another selling point.  I love that parents make up the Board and have a say in what our kids ar
