Birth story! My VBA2C! (Long)

My due date (April 2) came and went and I was starting to get very nervous that I wouldn't go into labor on my own.
On Sunday, the 7th, I had a little breakdown and fit... Complete with tears, so frustrated with my body and literally 10 minutes later I had my first contraction. They stuck around anywhere between 10 and 30 minutes apart the rest of the day.
Monday I took my boys to school and noticed on my way there that I had several contractions. Now they were about 7 minutes apart. I walked around with a girlfriend and went and got a pedicure. The contractions continued and got closer together. I was also spotting all day. Woohoo my body was working!
I wanted to labor as long as I could at home so I just kept waiting to just get the "feeling" that I should go into the hospital. It never came, so I tried to get some sleep. I was able to sleep between contractions for awhile. I got up around 1 and woke my boyfriend up and said we should go in. I showered and got bags ready. The car ride was not fun!
We got to the hospital around 2:10 and I had a pretty intense contraction in the parking garage. Afterward, I felt like I had lost my mucous plug or had bloody show or something... Things just felt weird. I was looking for a bathroom when I had another contraction that was harder to deal with. Then I knew my water broke... All over the hallway at the hospital! Oops.
I got to triage and the nurse was very negative about me wanting to vba2c. She checked me and I was only at 1 (which I had been for a month). I was very discouraged. I felt like all those contractions were a waste and didn't change my cervix at all!
After I got into my birthing room, I decided to lay down and listen to my hypnobabies track. During one of the contractions, I felt a sharp "pop" and then gushing of fluid. My water fully broke and all hell broke loose as well! My contractions were immediately 100% stronger than before. I got in the tub and BF held the water over my lower back. Each contraction was worse than the one before and I just knew this was wrong. I broke down and ordered the epi... I knew I wasn't going to make it med free and I didn't care one little bit!
The anesthesiologist stuck me 8 times before he essentially "settled" for how it was. He said the catheter was in 1.5 cm and it's supposed to be in 5 cm. After all that, I got sick and threw up and then passed out for a second. I felt better when I came around. I couldn't feel the pain of the contractions but I could still feel my legs and move them just fine.
At 7:30 my wonderful doctor was there and checked me. I was at 3 cm and 90%. Since I had been up all night, I napped on and off for awhile. A nurse checked me around noon and said I was still 3 cm but 100% and she "stretched" me to a 4. My doctor came back in to check on me about 2 hours later and was very surprised to find me at 9-10 cm! I was so excited.. I couldn't believe my body was working and I was going to get my VBA2C! BF called my photographer and I continued to labor him down for awhile. Eventually my nurse came in and we started pushing. I tried a little while on my back but then I felt like I should try on my side. That did the trick and they paged my doctor. He came in and delivered my beautiful baby boy. (I felt everything when he came out!)
They placed my sweet boy on my chest as soon as he was born and I was in love immediately. He looks just like his big brothers and we just stared at each other for a long time. When I let them take him to weigh him, I was more than a little shocked to find out that he was 9 lbs 3 oz and 21.25". Big boy! Two pounds heavier than my other boys!

I can't even begin to tell you how much better my experience was with a vaginal birth rather than cesarians. My doctor was amazing and never doubted me for a second. I also had an amazing doula and fellow nestie blinkinglight captured the whole thing with priceless photos that I will cherish forever!
