mixing and matching furniture

Am redoing LO1 nursery.  Her furniture went to LO2's room and we bought her a white crib and a white dresser & bookshelf.  Now I feel like her room has too much white along with other white accessories: piggy banks, a trio of small shelves, framed bow holder, framed poem, a set of 3 circular framed photos.  I have a couple black pieces in there too but was going probably use those in LO2's room instead.  Her room is painted aqua and her fabric is red and aqua with a little bit of lime green. 

What other color wood tone should I use?  I was thinking of a light wood like a lot of the birch products from Ikea for shelving, a small chair for her, and some frames.  Is that the best bet for mixing wood tones?  Or should I stick to black?  I'm planning a big Ikea trip soon so I'd like to have a shopping list ready and not spend 5 hours in the store, LOL.

  • I actually like what you have described and would not add another color.
  • Your room sounds really pretty. I like the idea of all white. If you want something else what about a color? Yellow, pink, and gray could all look nice.
