Baby Shower Attire

I'm going to a baby shower this weekend. It's at someone's house so I'm guessing pretty casual. Is it appropriate to wear jeans (dressed up a little) or should I wear something else? Thanks!

Re: Baby Shower Attire

  • You know your friends better than we do and you have seen the invitation and know the locale for the party, so you probably have the best idea of what's appropriate at this shower. That said, I would personally just wear a sundress or a cute dress or skirt either way.
  • I agree with the above.  Personally, I would not wear jeans but you know the group.
  • Yep, I agree with all of the above.  Most showers I have attended guests wore jeans and pretty tops or casual sundresses, but if you know the host to be more formal I might opt out of jeans.

I went to one this spring where I didn't know the group and faced the same dilemma. I ended up wearing a short sleeve sweater dress and was glad that I did. Some people did have jeans on and some had super cute little dresses on. I personally would say to wear a little spring dress, maxi dress or a pair of capri pants with a cute top. I would avoid jeans if you can but I also wouldn't go all out with a silk shirt and a skirt either. There will always be people dressed on the top/bottom of the scale, but you don't want to be one of them.
