Re: (Untitled)

  • My mom is actually coming to visit us this weekend. Since her b-day is May 1st and Mother's Day is soon after that, we're going to celebrate this weekend. H bought a new pasta maker, so we're going to make fresh spinach and ricotta ravioli for dinner, and some sort of fruity dessert. I'll think we'll take her out for lunch tomorrow, as well. We're all about celebrating with food!

I think going to a spa is a nice mother/daughter activity too, but it's not in our budget right now.

  • My sister and I have made a tradition of giving my mom $100-200 worth of flower gift certificates, then we spend the whole day flower/plant shopping with her at Gerten's and Linders. She loves it! and it's not something we make enough time for as it is so we make sure to have the whole day set aside to spend it on just that with her. If we're done shopping early we'll start helping her plant, and if the weather allows. Mother's Day weather can be so unpredictable.  LightningMy dad will cook out on the grill and we usually see my grandmothers that weekend as well. Either for Brunch or a quick visit with a hanging plant and a card :) Cliche but is better than nothing Embarrassed
  • I have always believed that spending a good quality time with your mom it is part of a wonderful gift.

I try to give her something that she likes, and then take her out for dinner or just nice walk somewhere.

If she likes to shop around, take her and do a shopping day. She will love it, since you are the one paying. :)

  • I never really understood what the whole fuss was all about until I had my little girl. Personally I think flowers are overrated, even though I found this great graphic at FTD (http://www.ftd.com/all-mothers-day-ctg/mothers-day-infographic/) that says 76% of women would simply wish for flowers. Maybe you don't need to go all extravagant, simple and from the heart is often most effective.
  • If you can't afford a full spa day, what about getting manis/pedis together? Or take her out to brunch/lunch at a nice place. Not sure where you live or if your mom is this type, but if weather is nice enough maybe you can plan a BBQ at a park/beach and spend the day like that. I would just think about how she likes to spend her time or what she would like to do more of if she had the time and try to incorporate that into your day.
