Sewing Machine? Okay, I must be becoming domestic b/c i have asked for the strangest things for Christmas. I want to learn to sew so my friend help me find a cute mini sewing maching. it only weighs 5 lbs so I can take it to my Grandmother's house and she can teach me all of the wonderful things she knows. it also will give me some good bonding time with her. She actually makes curtains and things for an interior designer! I don't even know what a bobbin is!?!
An Apron? Again, domestication. I think a really cute apron will motivate me to cook more
Picture Frames for our bare walls? I don't know why all of a sudden i want to be Susie Homemaker but I do!
What do you want for Christmas?
Re: All I want for Christmas is a...
I want the condo sold.
I'd really like a sewing machine too but no room for it til we have a bigger house and we are planning a trip to Italy so we aren't doing anything for each other this Christmas to save for that.
I have most of my shopping done so it won't be hard this Christmas.
OH and frames - if you need just the frames Michaels usually has them on sale, if you want prints or something art.com or just search online or go to like HomeGoods, TJM, etc.
There is a picture fram set at Red Envelope that i have asked my mom for. it is super cute. I have done about half of our shopping as well and i'm so excited about it.
I don't have room for a sewing machine either which is why i'm only getting them mini that i can put away in a storage closet. I just need to make sure i get it out and use it!
We were going to go in and buy a tv but we both decided its pointless and are going to put the money towards credit card debit! I don't think we are Dave Ramsey ready yet but we are trying to be more responsible!
I'm so jealous of your Italy trip. when are you going?
I got a sewing machine for Christmas last year! I love it! It was surprisingly easy to learn. I actually fixed a pair of pants last night to wear today.
As far as this year, I have NO idea what I want. The only thing I can think of is clothes!!
oooh frames! that is what I want too. I'm going to do a photo wall display in my dining room that I so need to work on!
hey- and you'll have some super cute pictures to put on your wall!! :):)

This is my starter sewing machine. I need to show interest and start somewhere before I spend a lot of money! Like I said before I can't wait to take it to my Nanny's house for sewing 101
I love it! I told my friend that is helping me that we could start a Stepford Wife Sweatshop!
haha!! Yeah I think learning to sew would be great. I didn't ask for a sewing machine for Christmas but I've been wanting to learn to sew for awhile. There are absolutely no curtains in my house and I think it would be fun to make some. I would also like to make some clothes for my hypothetical future children as well as children of friends and family. Unfortunately I haven't had the time or money to buy a sewing machine or to take classes.
I just want to be more crafty!!! Is that too much to ask???
Thanks Bethany I will look into that!!
Funny story about the sewing machine -
Last year, I didn't actually come out and say that I wanted a sewing machine. I had been doing a ton of crafts and some hand sewing, so DH picked up on it. He told me that he had gotten me something for Christmas, but he wasn't sure about it.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because I'm afraid if I give it to you, you'll think I'm trying to force 1950s female stereotypes on you."
LOL - It took me a minute to figure out, but I had just watched Father of the Bride. I had pointed out the scene to him where he buys her the blender, she gets totally offended and calls off the engagement. DH was nervous about the sewing machine after that!
Luckily, it really was something I wanted
We are going to Rome, Venice, Florence - you know the usuals. I'm pretty excited and we weren't going to go when the contract fell through on the condo but we get a good amount of money from family for Christmas and we've saved up. When the condo does finally sell we'll be debt free minus my grad school st loan.
Red envelope is VERY expensive in my opinion but I love it. I would look for something similar that may be more cost effective. The girls on D&R are GREAT at finding similar items cheaper!!!
I REALLY want a sewing machine. My grammie and mom both sew(ed) and I used to and know I could pick it back up easily.
oooh! I like!!! That is the general idea I have for my wall too! Now I just need to start printing pictures... and I'm doing some pictures of Hannah this weekend so maybe I'll get some winners!
What I really want is up to God and my DH
But I too would like a sewing machine...I have been eyeing the Singer Simple. And I want a dust busters...how boring of a gift is that! But I need it lol
Dh asked my parents for the Cone dust buster when it first came out. My mother couldn't believe it but that's what he wanted! We love it and use it all the time
I would highly suggest getting a simple, regular sewing machine. I got mine for christmas when I was in college. It's a Kenmore and was an inexpensive model.
It weighs about 15 pounds and is small enough to where I just keep it in its soft carrying bag, which is the size of a bowling bag. I just store it at the bottom of my coat closet, along with my vacuum cleaner. Pretty easy!
Here is one that is similar to the one I have:

I love having a sewing machine because I've made all the drapes in my entire house. It's like having custom drapes only without the cost.
That's DEFINITELY just one reason I want/need one...... ahhh sometime soon. Thanks for sharing Lydia. I know here in AU area if you purchase one at this one store in Opelika you get free classes w/the machine - can't beat that.
Wow, ya'll can have my sewing machine. I got it from my MIL 2 years ago and just took it out of the box to make Halloween costumes, which that reminds me I will have to post them. I'm jealous of everyone that had instructions or a DVD that came with theirs. Mine came with about 30 pages of jibberish which I promptly discarded. I bought a pattern to make cute aprons and would love instruction on how to make drapes, but I'm not sure how good at sewing I will be. I like to sew REALLY fast and apparently you are supposed to sew really s-l-o-w.
You girls are easy to please, for Christmas I wish for a Tiffany necklace and a Corvette and a Coach bag and diamond stud earrings, and a bigger house. Just kidding! I will probably get some clothes I don't need. Our family present is a Wii, which I'm not too sure about. I'm not big on video games, I would rather read or write or shop.
I also recommend the Simple Singer. I got one and taught myself with no help. Its very easy to operate.
I want a camcorder for Christmas.
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
I want this set of hard anodized cookware that I have been eying for months!!! I am also asking for a bottle of the perfume that I wear all the time....and a new coffee grinder
I would actually love a sewing machine! I have been looking for beginner sewing classes in my area for a few weeks now. I would love to make new curtains for my living room....and maybe a few new scrub tops for work!
