Planting a garden

Thinking about planting some veggies this year. Maybe things that do well in a pot I can put on my deck. Any suggestions? I do not have a green thumb and usually kill things. Lol but thought it would be cool for A to see them grow.

Re: Planting a garden

  • We are planting a garden this year.  M just prepared the area and I think we are getting the stuff to plant next weekend.  Good luck!

  • Sounds fun! Try lettuce greens - pretty easy to grow, they grow quickly and with their shallow roots should do very well in a pot on the deck. You can pick your salad greens after school/work/whatever which takes about two minutes and is a nice way to end the day.
  • I decided to start out with growing herbs in a container this year. I may branch out next year.  Tomatoes, strawberries and greens all do well in containers.

  • A built a large garden box to put on our deck. We planted sugar snap peas, onions, cucumbers, cayenne peppers and grpe and cherry tomatos. He however, is a city boy and doesnt realize how things actually grow.....so we'll see. I'm planting my herbs in containers probably tomorrow....
