Hello, everyone! I wasn't sure where to post this so I decided this would be best. My DH and I are thinking about TTC soon. It has been recommended that we have sex every other day to increase the potential of getting pregnant. My DH and I do not have sex that often! Every other day is going to be a lot for us. How did you TTC and still make it romantic and fun? I'm worried it will feel like a chore. Thanks in advance. I'm probably over thinking things.

I will second this book. They talk about it over at the Bump (where I am a dirty lurker for now-DH and I are probably a year away from TTC), and I found it really informative and it told me tons of things I didn't know about my own body.
Another vote to read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. You have a fertility window right around ovulation, and sex every day or every other day during that window is your best chance to get pregnant. Outside of those few days, though, you're only going to burn yourselves out if you're not used to that much sex. If you'd rather not jump in with both feet and read the book (understandable - it's kind of hefty, and not exactly everyone's idea of a fun, relaxing way to start TTC), definitely check out the tutorials on fertilityfriend.com and consider charting your cycles to find your fertility window. This will give you such a better idea of what your body is doing and how you can use that knowledge to up your chances while TTC.
Good luck!

I chart my basal body temp and record it at www.fertilityfriend.com. This is the only for sure way to know if and when you ovulate. I also use ovulation predictor strips and check cervical mucus. You don't have to do all that but if every other day sex is too much for you, then I would use ovulation predictors strips so you now the best days to have sex. The best days are 3 days, 2 days, 1 day before ovulation and the day of ovulation.
Good luck!
TTC since September 2012
This. Don't sweat it if you and the hubby don't ALWAYS have sex. Like previously mentioned, it's only the week of ovulation where you need to ramp things up! Try different locations even in the house to keep things exciting...it'll happen, just don't stress about it too much. Making the baby is supposed to be the "fun" part! Good luck!
This is what I did.....
A friend of me mentioned a period app called period plus....it learns your cycles and tells you more or less when you are ovulating and are the most fertile. I literally started using it and within a month we were expecting. This is after we have had a miscarriage however so things are just a little different from you.
My number one advice is don't make it a chore or a job, keep things fun and alive. I tracked my ovulation quietly as to not stress out my husband who more than once couldn't rise to the occasion because it felt more like work. I def do not agree with the every other day thing....you both will be so tired and over sex it is just going to make things worse.
Good Luck, and come join us over on the The Bump...you will find lots of answers to questions just like this
