BB Cream

Hey All! I received some BB Cream this month in my Birchbox. I'm excited because so many people keep raving about BB Cream (BB Cream this, BB Cream that...) But I honestly don't even know how to use it, when to use it, etc. What is this for? and more importantly, what does it do?

When i google it it tells me that it's for blemishes, but then why is it that i have heard people say that they put it under their eyes? Others have even said that they put it on their cheeks. So, how should i be using this product?

Plus, the BB Cream I got in my package this month is too pricey for me if i was to buy the full-size product, so if I end up loving the cream I'm hoping to get some great recommendations for some less expensive ones that I can buy -- anyone have any brands they are ready to rave about? :-)

Re: BB Cream

  • BB cream is supposed to be like a multipurpose sort of face thing- It's supposed to moisturize/ prime/ have spf/ act as a light foundation all in one step. Asian BB creams are generally thicker (like a heavy body butter) and most American BB creams are more like the consistency of tinted moisturizers.

So far the best I've found is the L'oreal Youth Code BB cream- All the higher end American creams end up oxidizing strangely on me. Plus, if you don't like it, you'll only be out $15 :)

  • I use BB cream the same way I would use tinted moisturizer. I bought Dr Jarts last year after receiving a same of it in my birchbox. I've used it for almost a year (not everyday but a few times a week).  It was worth the investment.

  • Agree with previous posters, it's just like tinted moisturizer (only it's great for blemishes, some even tone, etc.)

I've bought a few pricey kinds but I keep coming back to Garnier.  For $12, it's as good if not better than the brands that cost twice as much.

  • I love the Garnier BB cream.  And as mentioned earlier, its around $12.

Funny you should ask...I just reviewed about a dozen brands in my last 2 blog entries!

I had received a free sample of the smashbox bb which is what started my obsession. At the time I didn't even know what a bb cream was.

I will note that I haven't tried the drugstore brands, I tried them on my hands and really didn't like that most resembled foundation...so the ones I reviewed are probably around $30-40 but most bb cream you use very little of so they last a while.

anyway, hope the reviews on my blog (address below) help!
