So, this is a little long, because I need to rant! So, my career/work life has been just crazy since October! Back in October I was thinking about quitting because my manager was unethical, I spoke up and he was fired in November. I became an interim manager for the company, because we found out we were going to get bought out. Well unfortunately in January, a girl was hired to work beside me. She is someone I knew of from my husband's past. She is one of those girls who is stuck in "high school" and only wants drama! So out of spite, she spoke to someone and made up a lot of lies about me, which the facility asked me to transfer. So, she got her way. Even fellow employees reported that she was thrilled I was asked to leave, but was hoping I would get fired because she didn't like me! Anyway! She is now a manager at one of our other facilities. But my name is a little tarnished now with the company and really there is nothing I can do about it!
So, I am doing some side contract work, which has kept me busy until this week. Going from full time work to nothing!
So, I am thinking about going to apply for FT jobs again. The thing is I am 12 wks pregnant. With that I won't be able to get on short term disability. So I will be able to get 2 wks of vacation, and the other 4 wks I need off to have a baby, I will just have Dr's orders. But the company won't be forced to hold my position, right? So I am looking at finding a new job with the potential of being terminated once I go on maternity leave. That sound right to anyone?
I am just kind of stuck right now. I have jobs available to me, just thinking what am I going to do once the baby gets here, is a little scary. Thanks for anyone's input.
Re: Pg and job seeking?
That sucks, I'm sorry you've ha to deal with all that!
I could be totally wrong here, but I think it depends on the size of the company you would potentially be working for. If it is big enough (over 50 employees) you would qualify for FMLA which could give you 12 weeks off (unpaid) and the company would be required to hold your job for you.

Hope this helps, good luck finding a new job!
Unfortunately the company has to have 50 employees AND you have to have been employed there for a year in order to qualify for FMLA (which means that about half of American workers don't qualify.)
That said, there's no reason you can't try to negotiate unpaid leave if you're offered a new job.
