The hubs and I are spending a weekend this June in the Porcupine Mountains in the U.P. and I am trying to think of some good, easy camp food to take besides the standard hot dog/hamburger. What are some of your favorite camping foods?
Hey, Hey Hockeytown!

Re: Camping
I've never camped before....but could you bring/cook marinated chicken and or steak tips?

S'mores are a must!!!
However I know pinterest has several ideas you could look there. In fact I know on my Travel section I have several ideas.
We used to do "Foil Dinners" and it's just foil bags reynolds makes them and we would stuff them with hamburger patties, carrots, onions, cut potatos, and seasonings. Then roll up the bag and put it on the fire. They take about an hour to cook. Also you can add any other veggies you want like celery.
We also did quick things like lunchmeat, cereal, honeybuns, chips just the basics for lunch and breakfast. You could do frito pies just chili, chips, and cheese and you can either do homemade or can chili.
Bean Burittos or even homemade tacos. Steaks or kabobs used with steak meat. French Toast for breakfast eggs, bacon or sausage. You could even do some freezer meals and take those to cook.
We make foil dinners.. but just using regular old Aluminum foil. We make a little packet to put on the fire.
I think those are the easiest, and you can make all sorts. We have used them for chicken, pork, steak, etc. yum.
Do you have a camping grill? We love making breakfast sandwiches, and pancakes for breakfast. Both with fruit. Lots of fruit
Breakfast burritos are yummy, and if you plan for dinner burritos another night, just pack extras (and eggs)
Our goal while camping is to use as few dishes as possible, which is why we really like the foil wraps... I think I have a tailgating/camping pinterest page.... I'll see if I have other ideas, later!

This is what I was going to say! My favorite thing to put inside are pizza toppings. Here's a link to one:

You can make pretty much anything into camp food. The biggest thing is to do as much prep & cook BEFORE you go. That way all you have to do is heat the food up and you can do that over a camp fire, on a camp stove, or whatever your heating method of choice. You basically want to try to have as little work and clean up at the site as possible.
One time I made pulled pork, homemade bbq sauce & cole slaw, that was a big hit. Kabobs are also another easy meal to prep, then you can cook on skewers over the fire.
