Cleaning a flat stove top?

We have a white stove - one of those flat top ones. It stains easily! Besides a lot of elbow grease, does anyone have a good way to clean this? I tried a hot wet cloth on top of baking soda combo I found on Pinterest and it worked ok, but there is still a lot to clean up...

Re: Cleaning a flat stove top?

  • Dh has kind of claimed this as his job and that's fine by me.  We have some sort of stove top cleaner specific for glass stove tops and he also uses a razor blade to scrape. Luckly ours is black so if it all doesn't come off, nobody would notice. I think a white one would drive me over the edge.

  • I had a black cooktop at our old townhouse and now a white one with a grey speckled top was in the new house.  I definitely prefer the black one!

We use Cerama Bryte cleaner and the scrubber that comes with it.  It works pretty well.  I also have cooktop wipes for in between cleanings.

  • I also use a cooktop cleaner, I can't remember what it's called.  But it does a good job at getting a lot of the crusty stuff off!!

    ditto!

ours is black though and we really don't have much issue with it. Most of the time it just gets wiped down. If something spills and gets cooked on we use the cleaner

My mom has a regular stove top, but she swears by Dawn Power Dissolver. http://www.amazon.com/Procter-Gamble-00632-Dawn-Dissolver/dp/B000I1A8QW

  • Thanks ladies - I'm going to look into your suggestions,

I try to stay on top of cleaning as it happens, but DH cooks quite often and is not as good about it.

And it is about to drive me over the edge...!
