Re: NEWBIE!
Congrats and welcome!
Thanks! I can already feel the warmth on this board! On TK I tried joining a board for my wedding month, and let's say, uh, well...the welcome wasn't so warm. But those girls were infamous for that. It just wasn't for me so I stayed away.
But again, thanks! I appreciate the welcome!
Hey Hey! We HM'ed in Tahiti too! We cruised on the Tahitian Princess, actually. What islands did you visit?
OMG! I wish I were there now! Anywhere but work...and I wish my office A/C would step it up! Hot!
well judging by the fabulous beach picture i officially hate you... jk! (Just a little vacation envy speaking)
Welcome! you've come to a great board!
lol. Thx! I think it was a once in a lifetime trip so I probably won't be fortunate enough to see the French Polynesia islands again. But thank my DH for being Mr. Paparazzi when we were there because now we have plenty of memories
Mia&Dan:
We went to Moorea for 4 nights and Bora Bora for 3 nights. We loved it and were very happy with our choice
welcome welcome!
We honeymooned in Tahiti too!
We went to Bora Bora and Manihi
LOVED it!
2bBush:
BTW, your cat looks like my sister's cat, Shinobi. He was a rescue, as are all of the cats in our residence.
We have a total of 4; 3 are my sister's, 1 is mine. My little burrito (Achilles) as I call him, is also a rescue. my husband and I spotted him on the 710 fwy on our way home from work on the center divider. Luckily traffic was heavy and slow so we were able to pull over and get him. He was just about 8 weeks old, ridden with fleas, had wounds on his face and leg and had a broken tail. He was in terrible shape. My guess is, he was tossed out a car window by someone who didn't care for him anymore hoping he would have a quick death. We don't think he was stray because he obviously looked like he had been fed regularly.
The funny thing is, we got home from our honeymoon on Wed, the 27th of August and had to go back to work the next day because I don't have a lot of PTO (personal days). Everyone kept asking why we didn't just take the rest of the week off. We found Achilles that Friday. So if we hadn't gone to work, I never would have found him and who knows what his fate would have been...
In the 2 1/2 months since I got him he's adjusted really well. He was scared to death of people at first and would hide under the bed and only come out to eat. He's more than doubled in size since and is a little "chubbie" now, hence, my calling him my little burrito. During the first few weeks my sister and DH would say they didn't like his personality because he wouldn't let anybody touch him. He would bond with the other cats but wouldn't let any of us go near him. I always tried to remind them that he must have gone through hell at the hands of a human and it would take time. And sure enough...things turned around.
He is soooo sweet and craves attention. He is also purrs loudly whenever he's petted and so handsome! He and Shinobi are best friends. The other cats in our house, 2 girls: Meowth and Cleo are spayed so my sister and I are aiming to get Achilles and Shinobi neutered at the same time. But unfortunately we have to wait: Shinobi, when my sis got him came with a broken leg when she rescued him and it healed that way, unknowing to her which resulted in her having to take him in for corrective surgery for which he is still healing from.
Haha So I've gone on a tirade about our cats. Sorry about that! I'm just so in love with our (DH and I's) new son!
yea,
manihi was AWESOME!
The pearl there was super small. They only had 6 over water bungalows. It was great though. It was like being on your own private tiny little island. It was a good contrast from Bora Bora. While I liked all the perks that island had to offer, it was crowded.
While we were in manihi, we hardly saw any other tourists. It was super relaxing.
I would LOVE to go back again, but i think it was a once in a lifetime trip for us.
