How To Get A TAN

Hello Ladies! I need a tan!! Im just super pale by nature. Here is the thing...I am in the process of getting my back tattooed, so tanning bed is out of the question. ( I just want a base tan to start the season). Has anyone used any of the tanning lotions? Like Jergens or whoever? I wondered if they worked well or not. Thanks!

Re: How To Get A TAN

  • I have used the Jergens gradual tanning lotion and it works fine.  I have tried some other brands as well and the aerosol spray types, and they all seem to work about the same IMO.  I hate the scents of them all though.  I recently bought some from Bath & Body Works (True Blue Spa, bronzing), which smells better.  The sales associate said he uses it occasionally and uses their gradual tanning lotion between applications.  The scent doesn't bother me at all, but I don't see a very noticeable difference when I use it so I guess I wouldn't recommend it.

Victoria's Secret makes a "Bronze Glow Body Lotion" that I like and it comes in different scents, and don't have that icky undertone scent that Jergens and others do.  It's not a true self tanning lotion though, it washes off after each application.  But I like to put a little on my legs when I decide to wear dresses at the last minute.

I really, really like the Versa Spa sunless tans you would get in a spray booth at the tanning salons.  I have not had any bad experiences with them, but they only last about 1 week and can be a little expensive.

    Hope this helps...

  • Since the tanning  bed is out of the question, yes, your best choice is a lotion. The Jergens gradual tanning lotion is a great option for you, but you also can try aerosols sprays from another brand, they all seem to work fine.

  • In the past, I used Jergens Daily Glow, and at the time, I thought it was fine. However, I recently started using Spray Gel with BRONZER by Australian Gold, SPF 30. Personally, I wouldn't be happy going back to Jergens after this.

I actually have a review for the SPF with bronzer by Australian Gold planned for my blog in the next couple of weeks. I'm just in the process of getting it up and running. But this is one of those products that I want to recommend to everyone and anyone because I am thrilled with the results. I love that I can apply it as a sunscreen and get color at the same time, and on rainy and cloudy days, or days where I'm primarily indoors, I can still use it for a natural looking and instant glow!

I bought mine at Shopper's Drug Mart for about the price of an average sunscreen. I think it was about $12.
