~*~martinsgirls~*~

I had the glucose test this AM and it wasn't bad at all. I was dreading it since so many women complain about it but it really wasn't a big deal. I went to Quest to have it done. They gave me the orange flavored drink and it was nice and cold. I channeled by inner college student and chugged that bad boy down in no time flat. It reminded me of those ice pops that come in the plastic wrappers, obviously just not frozen. An hour later it was a simple blood draw and I was out of there. Now here's hoping I don't have to go back for the three hour test. The sitting around was honestly the hardest part of the test for me.

If you're really that worried about it, I've read that jelly beans can be substituted and that people have had more success getting their doctors to agree to the swap if you say you do not eat/drink things with artificial colors in them. You can get the natural color jelly beans at natural food stores/wholefoods. Not sure how many you'd have to eat? Personally, I'd rather just chug down that drink. Good luck when your time comes. Let me know how it goes!

  • I told my H that people who don't know how to chug booze probably don't do well with the drink.

Valid point. I don't know why anyone would want to sip it. It's not like it's a beverage that is intended to be enjoyed. Chug it down and just don't think about it. I think it's the people that over think it that end up feeling sick from it. The flavor is no worse than a fruity energy drink.

This could not be more accurate.

  • I'll also say that it tasted 1000 times better than the Pedialyte I was drinking during my stomach virus. I'd choose the glucose drink over Pedialyte any day!
