Home Appraiser Recommendations?

We have our inspection booked for the 30th. I had an appraiser, but he is on a three week backlog. He did say he would give me a referral but I am waiting to hear back from him. But in case that doesn't work out, has any used an appraiser that they would recommend? TIA!

Re: Home Appraiser Recommendations?

  • our appraiser was through the mortgage company, so I don't have a referral to offer. But a 3 week backlog, I guess it is a busy time to be buying/selling. Good luck with the rest of your process!

Thanks! I think that an agent is totally worth the cost, FSBO seriously sucks since I have no desire to understand real estate transactions at such an intimate level! Especially when the owner sent us the agreement there is a Gas Lease on the property that she forgot to mention, kinda important.

We are lucky that the agent we were using is my mom's bff and is has been so helpful in the process (she retired to watch her grandson full-time and oversee construction of her new pool Wink ) And her husband happens to be a real estate attorney.

Nice!  We didn't use a buyers agent but did have a real estate attorney draw up our agreement and hold our hand through closing. But I agree, the whole thing is a big complicated mess isn't it???

  • Yes it is complicated and we will never be moving again! Although we did walk all 6.5 acres on Saturday and it is kinda awesome. But there is mucho knotty pine to be removed or covered. It is just so cabin to me.

Now, it is time to get our house ready to sell. Hold me.

  • Kris, Congratulations on finding a house - it wouldn't happen to be on McMichael would it?  It sounds so much like friends of ours who unfortunately are getting a divorce.

Why yes it is! That is so funny!

My husband actually works with her neighbor and that is how we found out about it. We were actually getting ready to put in an offer on another house when this came up.

  • What a small world!  We have many fond memories there.  My husband would hunt there and take the little guy for walks and rides on his battery powered quad in the woods.  Great place for sled riding too!!!  I hope everything works out - they are great people.

She is super sweet! I am so glad that she has found a new place that she seems excited about!
