Ideas for bathroom vanity storage

Hi Ladies!

I'm relatively new to the Nest, and new to this board. I was hoping you all may have some ideas for me.

We recently purchased a new home, it is only 4.5 years old and we are absolutely thrilled with everything about it except for the master bathroom. I'm trying to figure out some storage solutions for our vanities. The master bath has two single sink vanities. They are both identical, wood cabinets with two doors. There are no drawers, no shelves, nothing. We do have a small linen closet in the master bath, but no medicine cabinet at all. Needless to say, this makes storing things like makeup, medicines, toiletries, hair dryers, etc incredibly difficult.

Any ideas for under the vanity storage? I saw some mesh slide out drawers from the Container Store that are a possibility.

We would really like to try to keep the cost down if possible. The entire bathroom layout is not at all what we want, so we are planning a gut and remodel within the next 3-5 years, but need a solution in the meantime so we don't go crazy trying to get ready for work in the mornings with things everywhere. :)

Thanks so much for any ideas and input!

Re: Ideas for bathroom vanity storage

  • The Container Store is pricey - you can probably find those same pull out drawers for less money at Home Depot, Lowes, or on Amazon.

Another option is to remove your existing mirrors and install your own medicine cabinets with mirrors on the doors. I think they sell those at Lowes, HD, or Amazon too.

If you don't want to go an install route, why not buy those clear plastic stacking drawers for under your sinks for your storage - Walmoart or Target. You could easily use them elsewhere in your home once you are done with your reno. They come in a variety of widths and heights.

  • You don't say how much space is available in the rest of the room. I'm assuming there's not a lot, but could be wrong

Since you have a long term goal of redoing the room eventually, I'd simply buy a small nice cabinet to hang on the wall over the toilet or on another wall, or buy a small stand up cabinet.

I just searched on Target.com for "Bathroom cabinet" and got over 80, link here:

I've repurposed dozens of items over time from one room to the next. I have one bathroom that is large enough to have a shelving unit and use large baskets on it to hold extra towels and beauty items, plus electronics like hair dryers and straighteners.

    Good luck.

  • I have found a very nice collection of home furniture and bathroom vanity at homelivingstyle.com. You can get many options and new ideas for your bathroom from their site.
