WHAA! I don't like our new bllinds!

I finally talked DH in to letting me get new blinds for our bedroom.  Took me nearly a year and he finally relented.

What we purchased were really...not cheap.  I went with a company that we used before and I was thrilled with the result.  We order the same product but different color.

The problem is that I don't care for the color!  It is a warm brown.  The one we purchased for our livingroom is a cool brown so I really like it. And one window is so large that the blind had to be split in half - not a look I love.

I'm tempted to ask the company to replace them (they offer a 100% guarentee and they will honor it) but that just doesn't seem right.

DH is going to kill me and there is no way I will be able to keep my true feeling from him.

I'm so diapppointed.  I don't know what I'm asking for here.  Really I want someone to tell me to call the company and ask for a redo but I know that it isn't right to make them eat the cost.

I wish I had just splurged on the even more expensive product but as it is what we paid was really hard to stomach.  We went from one window treatment I didn't like to another I don't like; only difference is we're out $$$$.

Crap crap crap.

Re: WHAA! I don't like our new bllinds!

  • How long have you had them?  I'm guessing it's been only days.  Give it some time.  It probably won't bug you as much after a bit.

I'd be totally pissed about the $$, too.

  • I can totally relate to you....convinced DH to get granite throughout the house...found a slab that I LOVED (of course it was an exotic and $$$$)...well, LONG story short, they sold that slab, we got the slab behind it, assumed it would be the same since it was from the same shipment, so didn't look at it first.  And when they put it in, it has a greenish hue that I NEVER saw when picking it out.  Sad thing is, it was over $5,000, so needless to say, we just have to deal with it.  After a couple of months, we've gotten used to it.  We are now painting the cabinets to see if that will help (they are stained and we are painting them a cream color so there won't be conflicting undertones).  We used the same color in the guest bath and master bath.  However, the guest bath was cut from a different slab and it is the EXACT color I want, just wish the kitchen and master were like that as well.

So after all that, I say if you really don't like it, I'd call them and see what can be done, but like others said, maybe if you give it a while you'll get used to it. Our previous home had a a large window and had to have the split blinds, so I know how that can bug you - ours was a front window and that especially drove me crazy!

Good luck and whatever decision you make, don't feel bad about it...it's your hard earned $$$$!

That scares me, I'm about to buy some for our bedroom too and have been procrastinating for a year because I couldn't decide either.

    Now, for you...

The company you used, did you order custom sizes from them, or if you return them could they resell them? If you didn't order custom sizes I would not hesitate to return them at all.

I hear what you're saying that technically there's nothing wrong with them except they don't fit your taste but unless you had someone custom make them for you then I think you should return them. They're not what you expected. That's part of the "guarantee" isn't it?

  • Well, it has been a few days and they have grown on me. Or at least they don't bug me any longer.

Functionally they are amazing: remote is easy and convenient to operate, block out all the direct western sun and desert HEAT.

The color?  I don't really notice it because when they are down it is mid-day and I'm not home.  The split is bothering me less too.

They were custom so cannot likely be resold.
