Part Time

Does anyone know of any part time positions available? I have a Masters Degree in Accounting and I am looking for something part time since having DS. Sometimes you ladies have connections.

Re: Part Time

  • Hmm, I don't personally, but sign up online through indeed.com, Monster, craigs list, etc. Good luck!

  • I have been looking for part-time for a year now, and have had a really hard time finding anything remotely close to what I'm looking for.  (Usually the pay is a joke, or the work is just not at the same level as my experience.)

Indeed will probably be one of your better resources in looking for postings.  It seems a lot of companies don't post jobs as much on sites like Monster anymore, but they will use those sites to search for resumes, so posting your resume to career websites might generate some interest.  I've been targeting the career sites of specific companies, networking on LinkedIn, and am also in touch with a head hunter specific to my field.  Of course, like I said I've been looking for a year and only just found my first legitimate PT opportunity, so maybe I'm doing something wrong!

    Good luck!

  • Do you have any desire to start something entrepreneurial?  When I finished grad school I had 3 kids and a husband that travels 50% for work so I knew I wanted/needed part time. I looked and couldn't find anything. Eventually one thing led to another and I started doing independent consulting (I'm an engineer). I also teach as an adjunct at Pitt and Robert Morris. It has worked out fabulously. Some months I'm even working full time but since I have tons of flexibility and can do a lot from home it's no big deal. I would imagine that you could do the same with accounting - start spreading the word that you are starting your own business and if you have a lot of connections eventually some one will bite and that will lead to something else, etc. my sons preschool teacher is an accountant and does it on her own. She does people's taxes out of her home. She did ours last spring and we were thrilled to pay her!  Good luck!
