I live in a climate where having ceiling fans in most rooms (bed/family) is a must to keep air conditioning bills to a minimum. It's time to replace the fans and light kits in our 1990s traditional home. I'm struggling to find ones I like. What is the trend these days with the light kits? Should they be bowl or individal lights with glass shades? I need something that looks current but still maintains a traditional feel. I also intend to get them in white/off-white to blend into the ceiling as much as possible. Any ideas?
Re: Ceiling Fans?
Can you go with a low profile one? Something that's high to the ceiling? I have seen more of the bowl vs. individual lights lately. This may be a little too modern for you but something like this is soft enough to use in a bedroom but a little more modern than the old school ones:

We put this one in all the bedrooms of one of our houses with a light kit. I feel like plain white is a safe bet - it's never going to bother anybody.
I always want lights on the ceiling fan bc when I walk into a dark room, nothing annoys me more than not being able to flip on a light with the switch.
For lights, I always like the three/four shades better than bowls. Bowls trap bugs and you've got to get up there with a ladder to clean them. The shades just need to be wiped with a swiffer.
