I'm not sure of the intro/first post protocol on this board, but I will browse around after this and do a proper introduction.
I came over here because two days ago my sister's 4 month old puppy (mutt - possible border collie/lab/German shepherd mix) started acting very lethargic, not eating, only drinking broth from a syringe. Now he cannot stand or walk and has spent the last two days at the vet with no answers. They are thinking infection or possibly an autoimmune reaction from his last round of vaccines that were administered last week. He is currently on antibiotics.
I'm so very sad for my sister and worried my fur nephew Does anyone have any advice or experience with this type of situation? Any and all help/thoughts/prayers greatly welcome. It's so sad to see such a young pup go through this. My guy had a similar problem from over vaccination but thank goodness he recovered.
Huge TIA for any advice!
ETA: He has a blood infection that spread to his bones. With strong antibiotics, he should be beginning the long road to recovery. Thank you all for your thoughts and kind words. I'm glad that there is some hope for my fur-nephew!

Re: New here - sick puppy :( *updated*
Oh no, GW!! I'm so sorry to hear about your sister's dog.
I really don't have any advice or experience, but I'm sending loads of T&Ps and healthy puppy juju that he recovers from this. It's so scary when they react to the vaccines that are supposed to keep them safe and healthy.

How sad. I'm sending my thoughts and prayers your way. I don't have any advise other than continue loving him. When my puppy got sick with Parvo after we only had her for 4 days, we just continued to love her and hold her as much as we could. It was heartbreaking to watch her go through such struggles, but we had a positive ending. I am hoping your sister and her pup will have a positive ending too.
Good luck!!!
first he is soooooooo cute
take him to the vet right away
