Have you ever flown with Southwest Airline?

Can you tell me about your experience?

Re: Have you ever flown with Southwest Airline?

  • I"m fairly certain I did a great number of years ago to Las Vegas.

that being said... the fact that I can't really remember means nothing bad stands out!

I had a friend that used to fly them all the time because the airport in NH was closer and Southwest flew out of there.  She never had anything bad to say about them...I think the only thing is you can't pick your seat...or at least you used to not be able to.

  • I love Southwest and used to fly them all the time before we moved to NY.  Fares are usually well priced, especially if you buy well in advance, and are usually fully refundable, no change fees, etc.   The thing some people don't like is that seats aren't assigned:  you get a boarding group number based on when you check in, and then board by group number and pick any open seat.  The key is to check in online as soon as you can the day before, so you are in the early boarding group.

  • I have used them...The only thing I was fond of was that you dont get a seat assignment but other than that they were fine to fly with!

  • I fly them a lot to Chicago and back.  I love them.  Like some people said, not having assigned seats seems to be people's biggest complaints....but if you are flying by yourself or just someone else and don't care if you don't sit by them, than its NBD.  Their fares are reasonable, I've always found their staff to be how I imagined a great airlines should be (friendly, accommodating, occasionally cracking jokes over the loud speaker) and they are much more on time than other airlines...not to mention the lack of baggage fees.  I usually take them out of Newark, although they do fly out of LGA, long island and laguardia as well.
