We will be renovating our bathroom soon, and I have been thinking we'd lay tile all the way up the wall to the ceiling of our shower, but our tile guy told us it would look odd to do so. I swear I've seen a ton of people who tile all the way to the ceiling on pinterest, so I am a bit confused. What about any of your bathrooms? How far up did you tile your shower?
Re: tile your shower?
Our's is tiled all the way up. Very rarely do I see tile only done to 6-6.5' high anymore.
Here's what our's looks like...http://www.lifeinthewhitehouse.com/2010/02/our-home-bathroom.html
regardless of what the tile guy thinks, if you want it to the ceiling, that's what should be done :-)
All the way baby...
We have an enclosed shower which is completely tile. My mom is a designer and their showers have glass doors and are open after maybe the 7' mark but they too put tiles all the way up.
I agree, the gap between the top of the bath and the ceiling is a dated look. We have it in one bathroom and I hate it.

Two years ago just before our wedding we had to completely re-do the master bath due to a sever leak and mold. We used larger 13" tile and tile all the way to the ceiling the floor of the shower is tumbled marble and we installed frameless 1/2" thick glass partition and door with brush nickel pulls and towel bar. Our bathroom doesn't look "old" at all we also used the same tile on the floor of the toilet/shower area.
For some reason I cannot upload pictures.
