DIY Boudoir Photo's??

Hey ladies!

Has anyone here gotten Boudoir photo's done before? Or done your own? I've never got mine done by a photographer but I would love too for my husband. I am also going to school for photography though and I love doing them myself for him ;) I get to practice my skills plus he gets a surprise! haha. Just curious if any of you have gotten them done professionally or done them yourself and how you liked it?

Re: DIY Boudoir Photo's??

  • Why not have them taken by a pro?

YOu need not do the full monty nudie shots -- you could do something like a retro cheesecake photo or just have a bunch of swimsuit photos taken.

What I think would be interesting:

The old school centerfold shots that Playboy used to do back in the Sixties. Go to a beauty school and get a Sixties hairstyle and some Sixties retro makeup and you're good to go.:)
  • I am a professional photographer, and I had a great experience with just teaching one of my friends (a photography student) how to use my camera and having her come over to my place & shoot them for me. When she left, I turned the self-timer on and did some more,....brave shots myself, but taking them all yourself is both time consuming and frustrating because you can't always get the perfect angle you want. I had all the photos on my own camera, so I photoshopped them and did exactly what I wanted with them afterward without anyone else having a copy of my pics. I'd just find a friend you trust to help you out, and maybe you can do some photos for her in exchange if she's interested.

  • Lol well I just shot a bunch today and ended up with 30 photos that I think he will love. I spent a couple hours at it and am happy with the results! I am just doing some simple editing in photoshop now :) I am on my way to being a pro photographer (1 year of school left!) but still would love to get a pro shoot done where I don't have to do the work. Plus I am in love with the retro themes like PP suggested :)
  • I had them done professionally as a wedding gift for H on our wedding day. The photographer and I had a blast. It was a fun time and out of the 300 shots taken, only 50 of them turned out. Which I knew would happen, because I have curves and some of the angles just weren't flattering. It was trial and error.

The only thing that I would've done, was hinted at H about me getting them done for him.  He liked the gift, but later commented that he isn't going to sit in the bedroom using the album as his spank bank. So it just sort of sits in the drawer and never gets looked at. Although I was in the best shape I've ever been, at that time, so I use it as motivation to lose the weight I've gained after the wedding.  But I probably wouldn't have gotten them done and saved myself the $400.

  • I would just go get them done. I did them myself and it really was a hassle.

  • Here's something artsy you might want to consider:

Just body parts and curves in the picture.

This would be cool -- a silhouette of your breast. The curve of your shoulder. The sensuous uphill climb of your ankle where it meets the bottom of your calf...your lips.
  • I had them done for DW and presented them to her the night before our wedding. She loved them so much! I am definitely a plus size girl, but found photographers that I was comfortable with (they also did our engagement and wedding). It was a blast and totally worth the cash!
