So, is Snowden (source of the NSA leak) a hero or a traitor? I still maintain all info is unsurprising, and I also thought similar information was presented to the public in 2006, so I'm still in awe of the shock many are appearing to feel. Thusly, I don't think of him as a traitor, but I'm not sure Hero is the right designation either.
Re: Hero or Traitor?
These are my thoughts exactly.
Agreed.
I'm not willing to call him either.
He may be a whistle blower though. Tough to say, as it doesn't sound like any actual laws were broken.
I think you covered it all. I'm not sure why this is so new - unless there is a new level of intrusion that we've all missed.
Unless he told our enemies what the hit words were and how to avoid detection within the coding - I fail to see how he is "aiding" or "providing comfort".
All of that being said - I'm sure his book - which is bound to be published will help him sleep at night. :-/
I though the bolded, too even before reading your post.
I think he's somewhere in between. It's sort of like the Burning Bed situation. It's probably not the prescribed method for handling an issue like this but realistically it may have been the only way he could see addressing it was doing it the way he did.
I feel sorry for his family because between the government and cuckoos in general, I'm sure people are making their lives hell.
