When do you find out official closing date?

Our contract closing date is set for the 28th. However, the bank was pushing to get it pushed closer for us given our circumstance of baby due very soon. I heard news today that the only things they're waiting on is the underwriter to review all final paperwork and the title info. I know both of these wont take long so I'm hoping we can close by next week (or miraculously this week? I know, now I'm pushing it when do you hear of when the official closing will be?

This is an individual scenario, one we have no way of knowing details about. It's solely up to whatever worker bees at your bank and your seller. Underwriting can take as little as part of a day in small banks or simple transactions or weeks at big banks or in complicated situations. GL!

Oh I understand but my question when do you hear of when the official closing will be, to be more specific, can they call on a Thursday and say we can close tomorrow?

Same answer, still, unfortunately. The people at the bank/attorney's office may be booked for a couple days and unable to do a closing, the sellers may be out of town and unable to sign, etc, etc. It solely comes down the individual players in your transaction. Is it possible to close next day, sure, but there's no way to know how busy all the various people are.
