I'm so glad you asked. I think we've been doing it wrong. Could we come observe you?
Practice makes perfect, right? And you want perfect grandkids, so we need to practice.
We're not telling anybody yet, but I'm actually due in 39 months! (Bonus points if you start rubbing/cuddling your belly and smiling.)
But actually my favorite way to answer "When are you having kids?" is "Whenever we want to."
To strangers I generally say "We can't have kids." They get very embarrassed!!
To my family/friends, we simply say we are enjoying our lives together now. We can't afford a kid and we are still very young. Luckily, my sister has a little girl, so we tell our family to enjoy having one grandkid already. We tell them to think of it logically: would they rather us build lives and a career so we could take care of a kid everntually, or just go ahead and pop one out now even though it would make our lives much harder than necessary?
The only person that still bugs us about it is actually my little sister- she loves babies!
I usually just say "one day" because its the truth...i think one day we might.
I also have said' "will you give us money to raise them?"
I LOL'd at this!
