Just a general question to pose for discussion...
So, apparently the NSA has used these monitoring endeavors to head-off and prevent several terror strikes.
Why do they wait until some widespread media rampage and whistle-blowing event to tell us this? Why not let the American people know once it's occurred?
Like, "Hey American people, thanks for trusting us. We just saved thousands of people in Las Vagas from being harmed. We cannot divulge details, but we did our jobs."
If the NSA and other government security/intel organizations don't betray trusts and/or divulge top secret intel to the citizens, why not keep us informed along the way instead of doing this back-peddling, "But but but, it IS helping. See look what we did!"
Re: More on NSA and Monitoring...
according to them because if they did the evildoers would change their behavior to make it untraceable. Which of course is crap because at least a good portion of the time they use disposable untraceable cellphones and public computers.
I also don't care because I'd rather give up some safety for privacy. You could argue pretty much any sort of intrusion at any level in the name of "safety" and justify it. However, it's a risk most of us would rather live with.
