Hello! We just bought our first home at a steal! However, it does not have central air or heat. It has a gas wall unit for heat and window unit for air. It has a crawl space under the house which I assume all the duct work would be run? It has a lowered ceiling? So I guess the dust work could be put here? Not sure but my main question is, what is a ballpark figure We are looking at on spending for central heating and air units. We will more than likely do the insulation but a price on that would be awesome too. We live in Oklahoma. I know the price maybe different for each state/ company but maybe a general ball park figure could give us an idea on what we need to be prepared to spend.
THANKS!!!!
Re: Central heat and air cost
The cost for this in Rhode Island would range anywhere from 7K-15K, depending on the space that the workers have to install the units and ductwork, and if the electrical in the house is wired for units as large as those. You should also budget for issues to occur, but you should be able to call some companies local to your area to get some quotes, based on the number of rooms and square footage of your house.
As another option, which would end up being cheaper, you could get individual wall units for the rooms that you use most, which depending on the floor plan of your house, could end up cooling your entire home. The units take in air from the outside of the house where the unit is installed on the wall, instead of taking up windows in the rooms.
