Doggy diapers ? for those with incontinent dogs

I have a 17 year old dog that has become urinary incontinent. He is 14lbs, I adopted him in 2002 when he was 6.
Anyhow, I ordered one Simple Solutions doggy diaper that seems to have worked well for Benji. I am planning on ordering AT LEAST a couple of more.
Should I be putting inserts / pads / etc. so the diaper doesn't get destroyed in the wash and / or helps hold in the pee more???

I don't know much about them, but a friend of mine used those and she did put basically pantyliners in hers. It was for a tiny (7lb) dog though so you might have to use something thicker.
I assume you probably have seen your vet, but when my Weim started have incontinence issues the vet gave her estroven and it works wonders!
Our little guy Royce is incontinent because of paralysis. He has little accidents all over the place. We tried EVERYTHING, belly bands, baby diapers, doggy diapers and nothing really worked. The belly bands were awesome, but we were always washing them, even with inserts. The doggy diapers were horrible, so expensive and did not stay on. We finally found what works was pull-ups! You can make your own disposable belly bands and they work for our bulldog like a charm. I'm not 100% sure what would work for your little guy seeing as hes 14 pounds, but Im sure theres a product out there that should work for you! Good luck and keep us posted!
Here's what we do:
Make sure you get the pull-ups with the open and close sides
1. Start cutting the crotch out of the pull-up form the front
2. Follow the same cutting line all the way to the back so the sides match up
3. We add 2 over night feminine pads because he's a big boy lol
4. Close up the sides and you're ready to rock and roll!
