We are responsible for the lawn maintenance of our apartment (even though nothing ever said so in the lease but we just deal). We mow the lawn with a rider mower but could really use a weed whacker for grass around the house itself and a few other areas. However, the garage is attached to our neighbors apartment (we are the upstairs and she is down below). We do not want to buy the weed whacker because we will have to keep it in the garage and we do not trust her. She is a self admitted criminal and drug user, and allows strange people to live with her all the time. We never know who is in our driveway.
Should we still buy one since the house looks like hell and hope she doesn't touch it! Or should we let it look bad? FWIW we keep the mower outside but wouldn't want to do that with something as portable as as a WW.

Store it under your bed? Closet? On top of kitchen cabinets? Buy a mini plastic storage bin with a lock to put in the garage?
ETA: Buy a bike lock and lock it to an immobile item in the garage?
